It’s not something we often talk about, but it lingers — the feeling that maybe we’re falling behind, not doing enough, not being enough.
Especially as we move into new chapters of life — retirement, empty nests, reinvention — it can feel tempting to glance sideways and measure our journey against someone else’s.
She’s busier than I am.
She’s closer to her family.
She seems so much happier...
But the truth we are learning, again and again, is this:
Connection thrives when we release comparison.
It blooms when we embrace the beautiful truth that there is no one else exactly like you.

Every wrinkle, every scar, every story written into the lines of your life has been earned through living fully.

Where in my life am I holding myself up against others unfairly?
What are three things about my own journey that I am deeply proud of?
How can I shift from comparison to celebration today?
There is more than enough space for all of us to succeed, to heal, to find joy, to belong.
Your story doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.
It was never meant to.

Today, practice connection without comparison:
When you see someone thriving, celebrate them without questioning your own worth.
When you feel tempted to compare, pause and affirm: "My journey is uniquely beautiful, just like me."
Reach out to a sister, a friend, a neighbor — not to measure yourself against her, but to lift her up and, in doing so, lift yourself too.
Remember:
Connection is strongest when we stop looking sideways and start looking soul to soul.
There’s room for everyone’s light to shine.
And your light, beloved one, is needed more than ever.
